Pam Baer has been at the forefront of groundbreaking philanthropy in San Francisco through her work with several organizations. She is also committed to helping others by working tirelessly on philanthropic causes that she is passionate about. Pam Baer has received various accolades for her charitable work, including being named one of the 100 most influential people in the nonprofit world by Nonprofit Times Magazine and an Innovator of the Year by San Francisco Business Times in 2005.
On September 14, 1961, Pamela Heavey was born to parents Harold R. Heavey and Catherine Morley Heavey in Santa Rosa, California. Pamela Baer grew up in Sonoma County, where she attended public schools before attending the University of Colorado at Boulder on a soccer scholarship. During college, Pam was an active member of her community, serving as president of the community service council and volunteering for local organizations, including Meals on Wheels.
After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Pam began a career as an employee with the prestigious San Francisco accounting firm KPMG. She later work for Price Waterhouse and received her Certified Public Accountant license in 1989. Pam Baer continued to build her name within the company by becoming one of the first female partners in the San Francisco office. She is currently an audit partner with the firm and has worked there for over 16 years.
Pam Baer began her charitable work almost as soon as she graduated from college when she helped organize a group of friends to run in a marathon to support Meals on Wheels for the Elderly. Though the group was not successful in raising much money, Pam continued her efforts and was soon one of the founding members of the Meals on Wheels for the Elderly Foundation. The organization has raised over $25 million to help provide meals to senior citizens throughout San Francisco and is now a leading provider of this service.
